8 Reasons Adventuring Is Good For Your Soul

{Via}

If you know anything about me, it's that I love myself a good adventure. Here are 8 reasons why adventuring is good for your soul:

  1. it's entertaining. When you're a teenager who's looking for something to do, there is nothing better than getting out of the house and driving around with your friends until you find a perfect adventure spot. (They are everywhere––keep your eyes open!) It kills a lot of time and can be so much fun!
  2. the world is awfully beautiful. My favorite type of adventures are the ones that are outside, exploring the world that God has given to us. There is a place in the town I live in called Flat Rock, and I never wanted to go because it was such a popular hang out for the kids at school. This summer, we finally went down there to explore, and it is magnificent. I could spend hours upon hours there, just soaking in the beauty of the world.
  3. it allows you create memories. My favorite memories are the times that I've spent with my best friends adventuring. Especially when the adventures weren't too planned out.
  4. the world is a book and those who do not travel only read one page. -St. Augustine.
  5. there's nothing better than a good road trip playlist. Whether you're going somewhere that's five minutes away or five days away, a good road trip playlist can always lift my spirits.
  6. it creates fearlessness. When you adventure, it forces you to try new things. I have a love for being fearless; for trying new things even when they scare me. Adventuring is the perfect way to create that character in yourself.
  7. they make you look at things differently. I always see the world a little bit differently after I experience something new, after I take in a new little pocket of the world. It makes everything seem clearer in my head.
  8. it encourages happiness. As some of you probably know, I have been struggling with depression for the past couple of years. One of the ways that I've learned to cope with that, is to go out and make adventures for myself. They seem to help put me in a little bubble of happiness.

All I Ever Needed Was Your Love

So, I just watched Grace Unplugged on Netflix and it tore me apart.

I've been wanting to see this movie since it came out, but never got the opportunity. So when I saw it on Netflix this morning (it's fall break--holla!) I knew I had to watch it. And I'm so glad that I did. I cried more times than I'd like to admit, and I don't think I can just mark it down to PMS. So.

The song that I posted above was the part where I really lost it. Just. Just. I don't know how to explain how it made me feel. Hopeful, maybe.

I know that I have been focusing a lot on things that don't really matter at all lately. I need to turn my focus back to God. He's all I need and sometimes I forget that. It's easy to forget that when you're surrounded by the world and people who want to fit into the world so bad, and I guess I sort of fell victim to that.

This movie was sort of a wake up call, I guess. All I need is Jesus. His love that never fails and never gives up, even when I screw up all the time. I'm thankful for that.

Lord, I'm sorry that I've been chasing after things the world has to offer; I know that I don't need that. I need you and your love and that is enough. Please forgive me for all of that. I'm sorry that I didn't realize it sooner. Thank you for wake up calls, and hope and forgiveness. You're all I need. Because Your love is better than life. Thank you for giving second, and third, and fourth, and infinite chances. I love you. Amen.

AFOMFT: Youtubers!

As many of you may know, I am pretty much in love with YouTube. I watch videos, I comment on videos, I even make videos (not as often as I would like, but hopefully more soon!). So I wanted to make you all a list of my favorite Youtubers.

Here we go:

  • The Shaytards! - I love love love them. They are my absolute, number one favorite youtuber. They make me laugh and always manage to brighten up my day. And even though they are done with their daily vlogs, I look forward to their 5 videos a week.
  • It's Judy's Life - Another youtube vlogging family. (I really love those). Literally their little girls are adorbs and Benji and Judy always seem to get me to laugh. They're great.
  • The Vlog Brothers - Obviously. Is my fangirl showing? Hank and John Green (yes, the author of The Fault in our Stars). Their videos are hilarious. Literally, the funniest. Check them out.
  • Makeup By Kim - basically the only beauty guru I watch anymore. She's so real and down to earth and yeah. She's the coolest. If you like beauty videos she's for you.
  • Connor Franta - he's hilarious. and good looking. yeah.
These are the one's that I still watch pretty much every time they post a video. They are all very fabulous, and I adore them. That's all for now, but be sure to check back for updates on new youtubers that I find and adore.

xx, Shiloh
